Piccoli Comuni – cantieri per l’ambiente e il territorio (The Small villages – Building Sites for the Environment and Territory Project) of Fondazione CRT supports the implementation of projects for the protection and safeguarding of the territory for risk prevention and the reduction of the negative impact of natural and man-made disasters in small municipalities in Piedmont and Aosta Valley.
The call is open to Municipalities, Union and Association of Municipalities with less than 3,000 inhabitants whose functions include the associated management of Civil Protection services.
The projects presented in the call for proposals must have as their object the realisation of interventions for the defence of the territory and hydro-geological rearrangement for the safety and mitigation of natural risks such as landslides, floods and fires (e.g. regulation and restoration of watercourse beds, construction of defence and consolidation of slopes, fire prevention actions by reducing the causes and potential triggers, protection of water resources, etc.).
Up to 20,000 euros may be allocated for each soil prevention and protection project implemented by the local authorities.
These interventions are part of a particularly fragile local and national context: in the last six years, 87 states of emergency have been opened in Italy (7 in Piedmont and 2 in Aosta Valley) and the ascertained damage has been estimated at around 9 billion euros (Report Laboratorio Ref Ricerche, based on Ispra and Protezione civile data, 2019).
